Metalink's latest VDSL innovations answer one of the most difficult dilemmas facing carriers today. Rising to the challenge, Metalink has developed fiber-speed over copper solutions: VDSL products that deliver data transfer rates of up to 100 Mbps symmetric over a single copper pair (200Mbps aggregated). Supporting both symmetric and asymmetric applications, Metalink's VDSL products can be deployed in both home and enterprise environments to support a broad variety of applications and networking needs. Metalink's VDSL technology is available in two product platforms, one serving as a fiber-extension and the other as an ADSL replacement solution:

• Metalink's VDSLPlus is used as a last mile fiber extension, delivering data transfer rates of up to 100 Mbps symmetric into the home or enterprise.

• Total-VDSL provides solutions for changing deployment scenarios, delivering data transfer rates of up to 50 Mbps over distances of up to 5Km. Total-VDSL can replace ADSL, delivering same or higher data rates over the same range.

The design flexibility of Metalink's DSLAM and CPE chipsets allow them to address the full range of deployment scenarios, including Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) and Fiber-to-the-Premise (FTTP), Central Office (CO), Remote Terminal (RT), Multi-Tenant and Multi-Dwelling Unit markets.

All Metalink chipsets are fully software programmable and can be configured to support international and regional standards, including the 998, 997 and Chinese band plan, using the same hardware design. These solutions are standard-compliant and are also spectrally compatible with existing services such as POTS, ISDN, ADSL, ADSL2 and ADSL2+.

A number of major service providers in North America and Asia Pacific have already deployed VDSL lines using Metalink-based products, resulting in an immediate ability to provide high-quality and optimal price-performance services.
